Abstract

In this paper the steady state
performance of a single-phase squirrel
cage induction machine operating as self
excited generator is analyzed. The
capacitor banks are considered for its
reactive power requirements, to self excite and to maintain desired voltage at
generator terminals for different loads.
An analytical technique which uses equivalent circuit and Newton-Raphson
method is employed to compute the capacitance and generated frequency for a
desired voltage at given speed and load. Also in the case which the constant
capacitance is used, the method of using
different arrangements of serie capacitors for voltage compensation are introduced and their characteristics are compared
with each other.
