Processing Methods of Kaolin

Abstract

The processing methods of kaolin are
based on its high a b i l i t y of water
absorption and converting easily to
fine perticles of kaolin dispersed in
water. So, depending on the dimension
of impurities of kaolin, one can choose
the pr6pe1: classifier f o r removal of
them.
Sometimes, the texture of kaolin is
not suitable for water absorption and
resultant dispersion. In this case,the
ore should be crushed and milled to
fine particles. This makes the classification
difficult and also the fine
particles of impurities makes the final
product less valuable.
The reduction of titanium minsrals
is done with flotation. this method
should be used with a porter mineral.
The titanium reduction could also be
done by selective dispersion of kaolin
and precipitation of titanium minerals.
For reduction of iron in the final
product, the high magnitic separator
should be used. By the chemical methods,
the separation of iron is possible.
Here, the iron change to a soluable
s a l t and extracted from the media.
Finally, the biological methods are
proper for the iron reduction.
