Alloy steel: Significance, Grades and Applications

Abstract

Alloy steel, which is versatile in
such qualities as grade, property and
application, can play an important
role in the technical and economic
development of the country. The present
consumption of the key industrial
sector to this strategic material,
specified basically as semi- finished
products exceeds 100,000 tons per
year. However, a rough estimation of
the true potential needs, does clearly
indicate a figure of much larger
extent. Internationally speaking,
production of the alloy steel can be
more profitable than production of
plain carbon steel. For this reason
the highly developed industrial countries
are deciding to devote a greater
part of their capacity to the manufacturing
of this material. In such circumstances,
installation and expansion
of alloy steel plants seem quite feasible
due to the following two reasons:
first, our appreciable domestic need
to the alloy steel and second, the
necessity of achievement of scientific
knowledge and technical know-now for
working with this material.
