Study of groundwater resources in the semiclosed basins of Zagros

Abstract

Many closed and serniclosed basins are situated in the Zagros montains
which form a northwest-southeast chain stretching across south Iran.
The original water supply of these basins was drown from underground
resources of alluvium by qanats and wells.
With the expansion in population and their needs, modern pumping
methods have also been used to supplement these sources of water by further
development of groundwater.
We are losing our groundwater storage in the internal Zagros basins by
the time more and more. Because of that we have to recharge artificialy the
groundwater storage of our alluvial basins by some method of constructions,
spreading of water or by artificially changing natural conditions and also using
the karstic groundwater storage of the Zagros limestones.
