Magnetohydrodymamic Power Generator
Abstract
Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) Convertor IS based on the following
Principle; Assume a conductor with velocity v moves through a magnetic field
of magnetic induction B then according to OHM'S law an electric field v B
IS induced in MHD the Conductor is a seeded ionize Gas (Fig 1) .
Comparing with conventional turbogenerator MHD power generation has
two advantages:
1 ). In MHD there are no moving parts, thus the lubrication and
mechanical stress Problems IS alleviated. In (MHD) working fluids may work
at higho temperature.
2). The higer temperator of working fluids will resulte higher thermal.
efficiency In MHD Generator, high temperatur (30000K) is required to
ioniz the working gas this makes it difficult to find reliable material for electodes
and isolator. MHD. Genorator may be combined with Conventional Power Plant
to increase thermal efficiency up to 55%
