Abstract

In this paper, the main features of a finite element program which we have developed for
nonlinear static and dynamic analysis of reinforced concrete shells are addressed. For this purpose,
.
having briefly discussed the finite element model
which we have used, the nonlinear material
models for concrete and steel are discussed in
datail. Then, the algorithms of static and dynamic analyses are presented. The results of our
numerical analysis are com pared wi th experimental test results on a reinforced concrete
slab. Finally, the practical use of the program in nonlinear dynamic analysis of the reinforced
concrete containment of the reactor building of a nuclear power plant is discussed.
