Abstract

The investigation presented in this study is
based on elemental concentration determination
of exposed rocks and the alteration zones of Ali ¬Abad region, located 31 KIn of southwest of Taft.
The area for this study was 4 square kilometers. The designed sampling grid were used for sample , 118
collection and carringout the chemical analysis for 4 elements of Cu, Pb, Zn, and Mo, and it was
also used for designing the optimum and final sampling grid. Of the 148 collected samples, 118 were selected on the basis of having a "true" geostatistical sample character. These samples were used statistical calculations, for
concentration determinations, and interpretations of background, treshold, and anomalous values.
Various types of investigations for determination of types of alterations, lower and higher limits of
concentrations were carried out. For obtaining the realistic and meaningful values, the number of
samples were reduced to 105. The Cu and Zn concentration values did not correlate with each
other, but an interrelationship between two groupes of elements Cu and Pb, and Pb - Zn were
definable. The coefficient of variations and the
range of concentration values were determined for elements Cu, Pb, Zn. The geostatistical data relationship amongst elements Cu, Pb, and Zn
were compared with the four major oxides of O, , CaO, and MgO, determined in the 36
rock samples collected from outcrots having alteration. Considering the host rock types and
associated alterations, it could be concluded that mineralization of porphyry in was type
granodioritic and monzonitic rocks. The alteration of sericitic propylitic, and argillitic were
recognized by the geochemical characteristics involved. It could be concluded that promissing
zones of mineralization for Cu, Pb, and Zn elements are defined and present in the region.
