Abstract

Performing spray with small drop size and proper velocity plays an important role in liquid propellant rocket
engines. Swirl injectors arc a family of injectors which have a good performance in atomization of the tile! and increase of the combustion efficiency. There are few parameters in the structure of the swirl injectors (such as : orifice diameter. nozzle angle, number of helical passages, etc.) that their variation would affect the spray characteristics (e.g. size of drops and their
velocity). In this experiment. the effect of
nozzle angle on the spray characteristics is studied using a phase Doppler Anemometer.
