Abstract

In the present study, one of the important EOR processes solvent injection, which can cause severe asphaltene precipitation was considered. One of the main causes of precipitation is the disturbance of thermodynamic conditions of the reservoir fluid. In research center of Ahwaz Petroleum University, a series of experiments were conducted using glass beads contained slim tubes to find out the effect of experimental variables such as solvent ratio, injection flow rate and temperature alteration on the injection pressure build up and permeability impairment. In this simulation, by using the conditions of experimental runs, a compositional and single porosity model was built using the CMG package in which a new fluid characterization model using Winprop module was used and the following results were obtained:
The most affecting parameter on asphaltene precipitation was solvent ratio with direct effect; the speed of asphaltene precipitation was increased by increasing the injection flow rate and the temperature variation has a minor effect on this process.
