Experimental Study of the Effects of hot film anemometer Presence upon the Turbulent Free Convection Boundary layer's Velocity profile.

Abstract

In this paper the effect of the field
of velocity created due to the presence
of a hot film anemometer in the
free convection flow of liquids has been
experimentally studied. it has been
shown that the secondary free convection
flow by the anemometer, at low
fluid flow velocity, will effect the
measurement of the principal velocity
profile in free convection flow. This
has particular importance in measurements
of fluctuations of velocity and
therefore the determination of "Spectrum
of Turbulent flow" "Scale of Turbulance
and Intensity of Turbulence". The determination
of turbulent characteristics
of free convection turbulent boundary
layer, in liquids would therefore yield
to unreliable results and should be preserved
of any comments upon the experimental
data thus obtained
