Anew and simple method for direct and simultaneous determination of traces of Fe, V, Cu, Ni, Zn, Cr, Al, Mg, Ca and Mn in petroleum crudes, mineral oils and petroleum products is described. Graphite powder was used as spectroscopy buffer and for preparation of standard powders. Using naked carbon electrode and cone shaped counter electrode, a steady D.C arc discharge was obtained with graphite matrix. Aquartz spectrograph of high resolution was used for this study.
