The suitability of activated carbon for treatment of industrial wastewaters can be quickly predicted by consideration of wastewater characteristics. The results of this paper represent a first step in determining suitability of activated carbon for treatment of wastewaters or effluent of treatment plants containing carboxyl, hydroxyl, and amine functional groups as a function of aromaticity , molecular size, and PH. Relative adsorbability of uncharged suLstituted groups to activated carbon followed the order : Acids>Ampiline>Phenol, and for aliphatic organics in the uncharged state followed the order: Acids Alcohols)Amines. Since these groups of aromatic and aliphatic compounds were in the same molecular weight range. The respective order of uncharged organics compound up take is: Aromatic Acids>aliphatic acids and Alcohols> Aniline aliphaticAmines>Phenol. The degree of adsorption was dependent on organic solubility and acid dissociation constant. Adsorbality increased as solubility decreased and when the organic compound was in an uncharged state. Solubility decreased with increasing carbon length which tended to decrease functional group influence. The importance of the number of functional groups per molecule on solubility and sorbability was demonstrated from the results of the acidic polymer (polymethylacrylic) and amine polymer (polyethylenimine) studies: organics containing carboxyl groups adsorbed better in their uncharged state (usually in acidic solutions). The respective carbon adsorption in acidic and basic environments followed the order: Benzoic Acid (H )Valeric Acid (H )polymethylacriylic Acid(H ),propionic Acid (H )Valeric Acid (OH-)Benzoic Acid (OH )propionic Acid (OH ) polymethlacrylic Acid (OH ). Organic substituted with hydroxyl groups demonstrated little affect in adsorption with changing PH (with the exception of Pentanol). Respective relative adsorbability to activated carbon follow the sequence: Phentanol(H )Phenol(OH and H )Penta- nol (OH )>Propanol (H and OH ). organics substituted with amine groups adsorbed better in the uncharged state at PH values above thier PKa, (usually in basic solution). Respective adsorbability of these compounds in acidic and basic environments follow the sequence: Aniline (OH )Po1yethylenimine (OH )>Pentylamine (OH )> Nony1anmine (H )>Hepthylamine (H )>Pyridine (OH ) >Aniline (H )>Polyethylenimine (H ) >pyridine (H ) . On the basis of this experiment, it is recommended that four wastewater characteristics to be investigated to predict euitability of activated carbon for wastewater treatment. These characterictics are as follows: measurement of total organic carbon, acidity ,organic nitrogen and aromatic compounds .The application of these organic wastewater characteristics can aid in predicting suitability of activated carbon for wastewater treatment and answerd to various questions about the design of treatment plant.}, keywords = {}, title_fa = {یک روش سریع جهت ارزشیابی مناسب بودن زغال فعال برای تصفیه فاضلاب ها}, abstract_fa = {امروزه زغال فعال را برای تصفیه فاضلابهای شهری و صنعتی مورد استفاده قرار می دهند . مناسب بودن زغال فعال برا ی تصفیه فاضلابهای صنعتی را می توان سریعا از خصوصیات فاضلابهای مورد نظر پیشبینی نمود . از نتایج این مقاله می توان بعنوان اولین گام برای تشخیص و اظهار نظر در مورد مناسب بودن زغال فعال جهت تصفیه فاضلابها یا پسابهای خروجی تصفیه خانه ها که ترکیبات آلی حاوی گروه های اصلی کربوکسیل ، هیدروکسیل ، و آمین دارند و در رابطه با خاصیت عطری ، اندازه مولکول و PH استفاده نمود . قابلیت جذب نسبی گروه های عطری بدون بار الکتریکی جانشین شونده به زغال فعال به ترتیب : اسیدها > آنیلین > فنل ، و برای ترکیبات خطی بدون بار الکتریکی به ترتیب اسیدها الکل ها > آمین ها بود . چون وزن مولکولی این گروه از ترکیبات خطی و عطری تفاوت چندانی با هم ندارند ، می توان قابلیت جذب نسبی آن ها را د رحالت بدون با ر الکتریکی بدین ترتیب نوشت : اسید های عطری > الکل ها و اسیدهای خطی > آنیلین > آمین ها ی خطی > فنل. درجه جذب ، به حلالیت مواد آلی و ضریب یونیزاسیون اسید بستگی داشته است . قابلیت جذب ، با کاهش حلالیت و در شرایطی که ترکیب آلی بدون بار الکتریکی بود افزایش یافت . ازدیاد طول زنجیر کربنی ، حلالیت ترکیب آلی را کاهش داده و از تاثیر گروه اصلی در جذب کاسته است . اهمیت تاثیر تعداد گروه های اصلی مولکول ، در حلالیت ترکیبات آلی و همچنین ازدیاد قابلیت جذب آن ها به وسیله زغال فعال ، توسط بررسی پلیمر اسیدی (اسید پلی متل آکریلیک ) و پلیمر ایمین ) نشان داده شده است . مواد آلی شامل گروه های کربکسیل ، در صورت نبود بار الکتریکی ( معمولا در محلول های اسیدی ) بهتر جذب زغال فعال شده اند . جذب مواد آلی بررسی شده به وسیله زغال فعال در محیط های اسیدی و قلیائی به ترتیب ارجحیت زیر صورت گرفته است : اسید بنزوئیک ( H)> اسید والریک ( H) > اسید پلی متیل آکرلیک ( H) > اسید پروپیونیک ( H) > اسید والریک ( OH) > اسید بنزوئیک ( OH) > اسید پروپیونیک ( OH) اسید پلی متیل آکریلیک ( OH). جذب مواد آلی حاوی گروه های آمین جتنشین شونده بدون بار الکتریکی ، در PH های مختلف (باستثناء پنتانول ) اندکی تغییر کرده است . قابلیت جذب زغال فعال برای این دسته ترکیبات به ترتیب زیر بوده است : پنتانول (H) > فنل (, OH H)> پنتانول ( OH) > پروپانول ( ,OH H) . مواد آلی دارای گروه های آمین جانشین شونده بدون بار الکتریکی ، اگر PH محلول بالاتر از PKa ی آن مواد بوده ، ترتیب زیر بوده است : آنیلین (OH) > پلی اتیلن ایمین ( OH) > پنتیل آمین ( OH ) > نونیل آمین ( H) > هپتیل آمین ( H) > پیریدین ( OH) > آنیلین ( H) > پلی اتیلن ایمین ( H) پیریدین ( H) . بر اساس نتایج حاصل از این تجربه ، مطالعه چهار خصوصیت فاضلاب به منظور پیش بینی مناسب بودن زغال فعال برای تصفیه فاضلاب ، توصیه می گردد . این خصوصیت عبارتند از : اندازه گیری کربن آلی کل ، اسیدیته ، ازت آلی و مواد عطری . کاربرد این خصوصیات آلی فاضلاب می تواند کمک به پیش بینی مناسب بودن زغال فعال برای تصفیه فاضلاب نموده و به بسیاری از سئولات در مورد طرح تصفیه خانه پاسخ دهد .}, keywords_fa = {}, url = {https://jfe.ut.ac.ir/article_26323.html}, eprint = {https://jfe.ut.ac.ir/article_26323_8e79ecf33acd1f7b05084e604cd3d875.pdf} }
