Generaly pressure vessels should withstand internal and external pressures in the form of static or periodic
stresses. If the application of such a vessel requires the lowest possible weight, the fracture mechanics approach
may be considened in design procedure in order to obtain the minimum wall thickness. In this work the thickness
of the vessel wall was determined using K values and smallest detectable flow size as a design criteria. After
estimation of the K of the material selected (a HSLA steel) and Designing the structure, few press ure vessels was
fabricated. static and dynamic test resutlts on the vessels confirmed the correctness of the design criteria

Circuit Analogies Programming vs Mathematical
Modelling for soil Temperature Distribution

Temperature profile determination in soils under adverse conditions of variable heat capacity and
conductivity is a rather hard task.
The heat capacity and conductivity are moisture dependent and both vary with the soil density. Moisture
movement on the other hand is temperature dependent and so the two interact.
No single mathematical formulae as yet exists for anticipating the temperature distribution in such a system
as soil. The mathematical modelling however was possible by slicing the soil into slabs and then implementing the
finite difference analytical method. The results showed some discrep ancies due to the nature of the method.
The simulation was also made by PCAP (Princeton Circuit Analogies Programming). This method also had
its limitations but the work was much easier to perform and a some how better results obtained.

Unsteady flow through non - homogeneous and anisotropic porous media can be modeled by a partial
differential equation.' This-equation cannot be solved analytically. Hence, numerical methods. such as the finite
element and the finite difference methods might be employed.
In this study a mathematical model has been developed using the fully implicit finite difference method with
control volume approach. The discretized non - linear equations have been solved by the line by line sweeping
method with thomas algorithm in four directions. The model has shown a very good convergence, accuracy and
consistency' The accuracy of the model h-as been approved by a comparative study with the exact analytical
solutions of some well known problems.

Based on the Carnahan and Starling hard sphere equation of
Compressibility, an equation of state has been derived. Conditions that must be
met by all equations of state are applied in order to obtain attractive term or non

acentric factor arc used in the derivation of the equation of state. In this
equation, compressibility factor is not constant at critial point as it is in other
equations oC state. II has been shown that PYT data of hydrocarbon can be
generated with accuracy through the use of this equation of statc . PYT data
calculated by this equation has been compared with data obtained through the
use of Peng Robinson, Soav - Redlich - Kowng and Redlich - Kowang equations

Point Response of a Linear Pulse - Echo Imaging

Pulse echo B - Scan imaging systems have been used for years in medical diagnosis. The theroy of such
systems have been investigated by several researchers. In this paper, we introduce a new model for B - Scan
imaging system based on Gaussian type transducer. An imaging system is normally identified by its point response
function. This function describes the image of a single physical point object. Generally, derivation of the point
response requires extensive mathematical operations and complex integrations; and normally it can not be
expressed in closed form. Numerical solution to the problem is not always feasable. In this paper, we present an
approximate, but practical, method for derivation of the point response of a linear pulse echo system in closed
form. The transducer model used here, is assumed to have Gaussian field distribution, and defined by 5
parameters: width, length, center frequency. band width, and the time delay The point response is derived in a
rather simple form, suitable for mally applications. It can accurately represent an imging system with true
Gaussian transducer within the far field region. Also, by proper adjustment of the prameters, this function can be
used as a tool in approximate modelling of non - Gaussian imaging systems.

In forging design the significant parameters are maximum load or energy which are required for the
selection of forging press or hammer. These two parameters are varied by the other paramelers such as the
geometry of die cavity, flash dimensions, shape of the work piece, friction, mechanical properties of the metal to
be forged, temperature, strain rate, and number of the forging operation.
The aim of the present paper is the introduction of a method mamed upper bound elemental technique
which takes into account all of the above parameters and predicts the optimum forging load, energy, and flash
dimensions by the aid of a computer. As the method is also able to predict the metal flow in die cavity, number of
the forging operation, and shape of the preform, it can be used for the design of forging dies.

Infinite dilution activity coefficients have been measured for seven binary systems at three different
pressures using a newly - designed ebulliometer. The results obtained through these experimental measurements
have been compared to literature values for four of the seven binary systems and the calculated deviation has been
less than five percent in most cases. Having verified the soundness and accuracy of the experimental method
through the above - mentioned comparisons, experimental results have been obtained and presented for three new
binary systems

The solution of a set of linear equations is the grit of numerical solutions. At present, with the
advancement of computer technology and the need for solutions of a large set of equations on different fields of
science and Engineering, new methods and algorithms have been presented which can be found in most of the
Numerical analysis text books. The basis of most of these methods like any other numerical works is speed,
accuracy and less storage requirements.
The method presented in this paper is a new method called "Decomposition Method". the basic idea of
this new method is decomposition of n×n coefficient matrix into n simple special n×n matrice
